Yamaha M7CL-48 and EtherSound system provide future sound for new historic circus

The destruction of the old Price circus left a gap in Madrid and in Spain until last Christmas when a new combined circus and theatre house, equipped with the latest state of the art audio facilities opened in the city. This new venue marks Madrid out as being one of the few capital cities in the world to have such a dedicated multi-functional cultural building boasting one of the biggest stage enclosures in Europe.

The old Teatro Circo de Price, which had been situated in “la plaza del Rey” since 1880 was demolished in 1970 and from that time the city had lacked a permanent circus but now the new venue, which retains the façade of the historic old biscuit factory can hold 2,000 spectators and be used for a huge range of various activities. An incredibly versatile technical installation allows these many events to be staged easily, these include trampoline acrobatics and jugglers, concerts and dinner shows. These stage changes and other complex configurations can easily be stored on a USB key.

To achieve all this, Chemtrol Division Teatro, one of the most prestigious engineering companies in Spain, was looking for the best and highest quality solution for its audio distribution project in the TEATRO CIRCO PRICE. They opted for an EtherSound solution, designed around the NAI48ES and 6 AD8HR pre-amp consoles.

These are all controlled by a M7CL-48 digital mixing console, enabling Chemtrol to fulfil all the technical demands laid down by the theatre’s technical director, especially the signal/noise ratio between the AD8HR converters and the EtherSound digital audio distribution on the network.

The M7CL-48 mixing console has a range of functions that includes an option to store all the configuration parameters. Combined with the versatility of digital audio distribution in EtherSound format, it proved an easy task to convert the already installed equipment.

Likewise, it is planned that the installations will also support a circus documentation centre and school in the future.
