Founded in September 1986, Finnkino Oy operates many cinemas across Finland, as well as in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. With a current total of around 150 screens, the company is rapidly expanding and developing its cinema services, both by building new venues and refurbishing existing ones. The intention is to offer the very best in comfort and audio-visual technology.
To achieve the latter, Yamaha amplifiers are naturally at the heart of all the company’s installations, providing cinema goers with the ultimate sound quality that they rightly expect.
Taking advantage of the supreme audio quality and reliability of Yamaha’s P series amplifiers, Finnkino already has 250 P4500s at work in its cinemas, along with a selection of P7000s. And now the company has invested in another 95 Yamaha amplifiers from Finnish supplier F Musikki Oy.
50 XP5000s have been installed in a just-opened five screen complex in Oulu, on Finland’s west Gulf of Bothnia coast, while 45 more have been purchased for another new complex in the Lituanian town of Kaunas, around 150km west of the country’s capital Vilnius, due to open in February 2007.
All of Finnkino’s complexes use custom-built loudspeaker systems, which the company has specially designed to ensure that the audio is optimised for each individual theatre, therefore making sure that the ultimate audio quality is provided to its customers.
“All our amplifiers are in bi-amp tri-amp mode and feature active digital crossovers,” says Finnkino’s Ari Saarinen. “The sound quality is superb and they are utterly noiseless. The design is excellent, they are very well built and offer superb quality and power for the cost.” “But it’s also very important that the reliability of the amplifiers is fantastic,” he continues. “We have never had a single failure in any of our installations.” Tomas Nylen of Yamaha adds: “We are very pleased that such a high profile company as Finnkino has is using Yahama amplifiers. Finnkino is driving a major growth in the cinema industry in Finland and the Baltic States, and Yamaha’s equipment will ensure that its ever-expanding network of cinemas enjoys optimum sound quality for many years to come.”
