Situated on Glasgows Sauchiehall Street, one of Scotlands most famous streets, post production company Murricane and Murricane recently acquired a Yamaha 02R96 digital mixing desk. Its first task was mixing post production sound for Channel 4s new series of Location, Location, Location.
"This is our first digital mixing desk," explained Dave Murricane, "after using an analogue desk for 10 years we decided it was time to take advantage of modern technology."
After careful research, the company decided that Yamahas 02R96 would meet all their requirements and approached local Yamaha dealers Mediaspec of East Kilbride who supplied the desk.
Yamaha provided on-site training for Dave Murricane and his colleagues. "The move from analogue to digital felt like a quantum leap to us. The fact that we could have seamlessly integrated portals was very impressive," said Murricane who is clearly delighted with his new mixing desk. "Just sonically its very good," he added.
Clearly, Murricane and Murricanes first foray into digital mixing with Yamaha has been a great success. Yamaha have provided all the necessary back up, normally in the form of telephone help.
"Its a good sounding desk," concluded Murricane. "The automation is a real eye-opener. A mix is now an easy and straightforward process."
