Level 42 go digital with Yamaha

Back

After many years of touring regularly Level 42 have a huge global following, and original group member and bass maestro Mark King is still very much involved in keeping the group alive.

“I’ve recently taken delivery of one of Yamaha’s DM1000 digital mixers,” said King, obviously delighted with his new purchase. King will be using the desk to digitally record a new Level 42 album, a new Mark King album, and a bass-tuition DVD that he is also filming, as well as mixing the live shows that he records when the band tours to give fans all their old favourites in the highest quality sound. King finds the desk more than adequate as the front end in his studio set-up. “Despite its small size, it has all the mic lines and inputs we need,” he said.

“I chose a Yamaha desk because I’ve used them previously and feel very comfortable with them. It does exactly what it says on the box,” King continued. The DM 1000 will not only be used in the studio since King intends to use it on the road for future tours.

King is using the desk in conjunction with Pro-Tools® and is indeed very pleased with its performance. “The quality of the internal mic pre-amps and the A/D converters is fantastic,” he said of the DM1000. “We have 11 mic lines in and the sound is the best I’ve ever had.

As ever, the last word should go to the Maestro. “It’s a fantastic bit of kit. I’m very, very happy,” he concluded.

Once more, Yamaha proves equal to the task.
