Yamaha Commercial Audio to distribute Audinate Dante – MY16-AUD Card

Available from September 2009 and being distributed worldwide by Yamaha Commercial Audio, the Audinate Dante-MY16-AUD card provides high performance digital media networking and opens a new realm of multi-track recording possibilities to users of Yamaha digital audio products, which meet the exacting standards requirements of professional live sound, installed sound reinforcement installations and broadcast.

Being launched at InfoComm 2009, which takes place in Orlando, Florida from June 14-19, the Dante-MY16-AUD features Audinate’s patent pending Dante™ technology, which distributes digital audio with imperceptible latency, sample accurate playback synchronization and excellent reliability.

Delivering a self-configuring, true plug-and-play digital audio network that uses standard internet protocols at 1Gbps and/or 100Mbps Ethernet, Dante-enabled devices will self configure, automatically discovering the location and number of channels of other devices on the network, reducing complicated installation requirements.

Dante runs on off-the-shelf computer networking hardware, and does not require a dedicated network infrastructure. Furthermore, it can utilise the same Ethernet network for transmitting uncompressed audio and control alongside ordinary data traffic.

Another major innovation that the Dante-MY16-AUD card brings is Audinate’s Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS). With DVS, a Macintosh or Windows computer looks and acts like any other Dante‐enabled device. Just install DVS and connect your computer using the standard Ethernet port.

Each Dante-MY16-AUD provides 16 bi-directional audio channels (eight at 96kHz) and full Dante network audio redundancy. More cards can be added for increased channels, allowing Yamaha users to record up to 48 channels of 24 bit audio direct to any audio recording software (on Mac or PC), with no need for an audio interface.

Compatible with a wide range of Yamaha digital products, including the PM5D, DSP5D, M7CL, LS9, DM2000, DM1000, 02R96 and01V96 mixing consoles, the DME24N, DME64N digital mix engines and TXn series amplifiers, the Dante-MY16-AUD card also had high quality onboard VCXO clock which can provide master clock or slave from audio equipment.

“Yamaha is one of the most respected companies in the professional audio business and we are delighted to have them as the distributor for the Dante-MY16-AUD card,” states Lee Ellison, CEO, Audinate, Inc.

“With the new card installed, customers will be able to easily connect to other Dante enabled products and offer a broader networked solution.”

Nick Cook, European Marketing Director for Yamaha Commercial Audio Europe adds, “This product brings innovative new levels of functionality to a wide range of our digital products. In particular, the ability to record up to 48 channels of high quality audio direct from the console, without the need for an audio interface, will be a tremendous asset to Yamaha users.“

The Dante-MY16-AUD card will be available in September 2009 at an MSRP of $649. Each card includes a single license of the Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS).
