Having already proved a major success in a wide range of installation types, Yamaha’s versatile DME digital mixing engines are gaining yet more functionality with the introduction of DME Firmware Version 3.5.
Being launched on 17th June at the InfoComm 2009 trade show in Orlando, Florida, the updated firmware adds a new Program Ducker component and other improvements to enhance overall speed and efficiency.
The new Program Ducker component features significantly longer attack and release times than the existing DME Ducker component. Mono and stereo types can be flexibly configured to accommodate a wide range of applications, offering all the versatility required for installations ranging from banquet halls to theme parks, while additionally providing camera tally link capability for broadcast - a field in which the DME series is finding increasing popularity.
The Program Ducker can also be triggered by an oscillator, making it possible to use the output of a single oscillator to simultaneously trigger multiple channels, for instance in a 5.1 surround sound installation.
DME Firmware Version 3.5 also features a number of other refinements, including emergency clock support for the DME Satellite ES series - providing even greater reliability in ring-connected EtherSound networks; cascade connection across device groups, allowing audio to be transmitted and received across different device groups in large-scale systems and a redesigned compiler algorithm for more efficient use of DSP resources. Processing times when handling large configurations with a large numbers of connections have, for example, been markedly reduced.
Further improvements are a substantial improvement in internal flash ROM write speed, significantly reducing the time required for file storage / synchronization and native support for the latest MiniYGDAI Cards, including the MY16-ES64, MY16-MD64 and MY16-EX units.
In addition, Yamaha’s DME Designer software also sees external device icons added for recently released products including the IMX644 digital mixer, IPA8200 multi-channel power amplifier, with new NEXO speakers icons also included.
DME Firmware Version 3.5 will be available as a free online download for all DME series owners from late July.
